Affiliate Marketing How To's

Affiliate Marketing How To’s – Part 3 – Marketing your site!

You can look at marketing in one of two ways.  It can be a fun and enjoyable experience for you or it can be a tedious pain in the neck.

Regardless of how you look at it, the one thing you must never forget is that it is a critical, imperative part of your business.  If nothing else, you are in the marketing business.  What good is writing all that interesting content we discussed in Part 2 of this series if nobody ever reads it?

This 3-part series will give you all the information you need to run  a very profitable business online!  You will need to follow the proven steps to accomplish this.   I would suggest that you go back and read Parts 1 and 2 of this series if you have not already before you dive in here so that everything makes sense to you.  You will find links to those articles at the bottom of this one!

Marketing is

I’m going to go over marketing as well as search engine optimization techniques in this section so you will have a good start to getting your content noticed!  I, personally, love marketing!  I think it’s exciting to know that I am putting my content out there.  I work hard on it, and I want it to benefit as many people as I can put it in front of!

Social Media Marketing

Every single time you write an article, you need to put it out there on your social media platforms!  Here are the platforms that I market on (and you can click on each one to be taken in a new tab to my platforms to view them!  Hey – be sure to like or follow me, and I’ll return the favor for you!):

The other thing you should be doing is searching for #hashtags and seeing what people are posting for your niche.  Doing this will pull up posts in your niche and give you an opportunity to interact with other people who are talking about what you’re talking about.  Be social!

You may also want to re-tweet or share posts from other people who are posting information in your niche.  You can start to build online relationships and credibility by interacting in a positive way with others around you on social media!

On-site optimization techniques

In part 1 of this series, I showed you how to find the best keywords that have a lot of searches and low competition.  You want to start every post title with your target keyword phrase.  In this article, my keywords are “Affiliate Marketing How To’s” and so I started my title with that phrase!

At the bottom of every post in WordPress, and on the posts page in the dashboard, there is a place for what’s called a Meta Title (SEO Title) and a Meta Description (SEO Description).  You want to make sure your keyword phrase is in both of these spaces, and I always put the keyword phrase into the keywords box for each post as well!

In WordPress, whenever you install a photo in a post, there is a field called “Alt Text” (alternative text) which should always be filled in with your keyword phrase for the post the picture is in.  It’s a simple thing, but extremely effective!

You will want to make sure you always use your keyword phrase within the first paragraph of your article.  You can also use it somewhere else on the page, but you do not want to over-use it.  Google is saavy to people who pump their articles full of a keyword phrase, so definitely do not do that.

If you article is about affiliate marketing, use the words internet marketing or online marketing throughout the article.  You can go to Google and put in your keyword phrase.  The search engine will give you some other keyword phrases at the bottom  of the results that you could use throughout the article.

Email Marketing

At the risk of repeating myself, if you are not email marketing to your list, you are leaving money on the table.  If you are just beginning, this will be a step down the road for you.  You will want to get your website set up first, and then you can set up a free giveaway and use it to capture email addresses.

What do I mean by that?  Have you ever heard it said that a person has to see something multiple times before they buy?  Most training teaches that the average person needs to see something seven times!  Wow!  What are the chances that someone will visit your website seven times?  Unless you have a way to keep on their mind, the chances are slim.

Therefore, the way that you will keep on your readers’ minds is by sending them quality content in emails, directing them back to your site and your offers.

Offer a Free Giveaway

You will want to give away something of value that you think your readers will like, such as as Ebook full of great information!  I know myself that I have happily given my email address on websites in order to obtain a free ebook.

Here is an ebook I created with a really awesome program called Designrr that takes any url and makes it into an ebook.  It is truly the most amazing program, and I have a special offer with them.  If you simply go to the Designrr website, you will see that they offer their ebook maker for a monthly fee of $39.00.   You do not have to pay this!

Affiliate Marketing How To's

You can buy this awesome ebook creation software that will allow you to make an ebook with a few clicks from any url or multiple url’s.  You can edit them, add to them, and make them perfect with a few clicks!  If you buy the Designrr program through this site, you will get it for a lifetime one-time fee of only $27.00.

The importance of video

I cannot express to you enough how much traffic you can get to your website merely from video.  I talk about this a lot on this website, and I hope you’ve been paying attention.

You can make simple videos about anything.  Whatever your niche is, you can use video.  I use a program to capture my screen of my computer called Screencast-O-Matic!  It’s awesome!  You can narrative the video or apply music to it if you like.  It’s a lot of fun to use, and it helps me illustrate things on my site!

Here’s a video I put together that is just words captured with music playing.  I muted it here, but you can view it on Youtube with the music.  Anyway, this was really simple to put together, and videos like this are very effective:

Born in Texas, raised in upstate New York, I have been marketing for my entire adult life.I have decided to share all the information I have gathered on what works in affiliate marketing, and what doesn't because I want to let the world know that working online gives you the freedom to work from anywhere, and that is exactly what I do!

Starting out can be tough, I know, so I will also be sharing lots of free resources to get you going.I am dedicated to providing this information to my readers, and I hope you always feel free to reach out to me.

Thanks for visiting my page!

  1. Hi Babs

I just read this post and I have to say Designrr is amazing and so easy to learn how to use and the price at $27 is fantastic and a great way to get your name out there as a giveaway to help people.

Also, Video is so important and this is something I need to get used to doing as YouTube is a wonderful place to get noticed and help people learn about what you are doing

Again, Babs, you have helped me immensely so thank you and keep rocking and helping people

    1. You are very welcome, Vicki!  I can’t tell you how happy I am that you find value in my site!  That’s wonderful!  ~ Babs

  2. Hello Babs, thanks for explaining the Affiliate Marketing process. Among the list you’ve mentioned above, I’m still struggling in email marketing. I’ve set up my lead capture page and pop up, but there is so few subscribers that I can get per week. Free giveaway seems a good strategy to make my readers want to subscribe, but eBook is not really suitable for my niche’s audience. Do you have any idea what can be used as giveaway for a fashion niche? Thanks

    1. I think any niche can give away information that is of interest to the readers.  You write articles, right?  If you do, you can turn any article on your site into an ebook just like that with Designrr!  It’s pretty cool!  ~ Babs

  3. I wish you much success! Sites like this and coaching like what you offer are exactly what people like me that need to just take action and do need. Not only can you learn from the content on this site that you can learn if you pay attention to how the site is a laid out and be the marketing on the site itself. It’s actually doing!

  4. These are excellent tips on marketing your website.  SEO and social media are definitely number one!  Though I’d categorize YouTube in social media. An email newsletter is another definite huge advantage for any site owner, especially if you offer a freebie! I did notice you didn’t mention paid ads.  Are you only listing free marketing methods? I’ve had some success with SEO and social media, but an ad campaign is useful too, though not worth much in the very beginning if you don’t have much to offer.

This was a fun read, too, thank you!  I hadn’t heard of the ebook software, so I’ll look into Designrr.

    1. Yes, I’m just learning about paid advertising in my Wealthy Affiliate training.  I have not ventured there yet, as they do focus mostly on free marketing techniques, SEO and getting traffic through generic methods.  I will be posting on paid advertising techniques and what works best as I venture in that direction!  Keep subscribed and you’ll get notification of new articles!  ~ Babs

  5. Hi Babs

This series is turning out to be something special and because of your recommendation I went with Designrr and am very pleased because it is an easy Ebook design platform to learn. You are a fount of all knowledge.

I can understand the power of videos in YouTube but there is a problem here as I have a speech impediment that stops me talking clearly, so what do you do in these cases?

    Keep up the good work

    1. Oh, you can actually narrate with words.  You can splice together powerpoint slides with the narration and then show the video.  That way you don’t have to talk.  ~ Babs

  6. Fun and enjoyable! For me it is just that because it’s about the act of creating and also learning. There is a world of knowledge out there. Great advice on hashtags. I’ll definitely be checking  you out further on social media. Thank you for pointing out re-tweeting as I need to remember to do this more often. Another thing I need to work on is an email list, so thank you again. Your links to Wealthy Affiliate are outstanding as it is such an excellent community and platform. Everyone reading here should follow the links in this post to see what it’s all about!

    1. Yes, they should, for sure!  If they want to build an online business, they need to!  I appreciate your kind words, and I appreciate your follows on my social media platforms.  I will follow you back for sure!  ~ Babs

  7. Your website is amazing and deeply instructive.  For anyone interested in making money by Affiliate Marketing, they have a thorough education if they have the time to study, digest and take action.  Thank you for taking the time.

I like that even though this is Part 3, you give the reader a chance to study Parts 1 and 2.  I am still building my website, but when I see yours and others I am ashamed to say, mine is paltry.  Hope I can find a way to build it better.  I may follow your example.

    1. Anyez, it’s a learning process, and I do mean a process.  I want you to take a little bit of this and a little bit of that from every site you visit, and you’ll find your site is just what you want it to be before you know it.  Don’t get discouraged.  We all started at the beginning, and we all followed the process!  You’ll get there!  ~ Babs
