Therefore, getting “traffic” (visitors) to your site is paramount to your success, and today’s lesson will focus on some of the awesome ways you can get traffic to your website! Let’s begin!

Social Media Marketing

This probably goes without saying.  Sharing your content, every piece you produce, on all your social media platforms is part of the process of blogging.

I have several tools that I use to accomplish this goal for the various sites.  I’m going to go over them with you because finding efficient ways to post your content is going to save you in the long run.  The business of online marketing can be time-consuming.  There are a lot of moving parts.

I use spreadsheets for keeping track of everything.  It’s just easier that way.  It ensures I accomplish all the goals for each and every post, from my meta tags and descriptions, to my picture alternative text to my social media posts on each site.  I’m going to get into these other factors a little later in the article.  First, take a look at the social media part of my spreadsheet I use.

As you can see, I keep track of every post.  It helps me to make sure I follow the proper SEO steps for each.

The steps are explained here.  Just click on each one below to read about it:

When you post a picture on WordPress, you have the option to put something called “alternative text” for each picture.  You want to use your designated keyword phrase you are focusing on in the post as the alternative text for each picture you post.

Each post has a place at the bottom where you can fill in a meta title and a meta description.  Both areas want to contain your designated keyword phrase for the post.

These are the comments that appear at the bottom of the post.  Comments are key for search engine optimization.  The search engines like articles that have a lot of comments.  I’m going to share with you below my #1 strategy to get lots of comments on my posts.  Keeping track of the number of comments helps me know which articles to focus on that might need more.

This is referring to the Wealthy Affiliate comments area.  When you are a Premium member of the Wealthy Affiliate platform, they have a give-and-take comments area where you give comments on other websites, and fellow marketers visit your site and leave comments on your posts.  It’s genius, really, and a huge benefit of being a Premium member of the program.

These are the various social media platforms, and I have recently started marketing on my Instagram account as well, so I will be adding a column to the spreadsheet.  I’ve listed below my easy strategies for posting to all these social media accounts!

Pinterest Posting Strategies

I wrote an article about a program I use to automate my posts on my various Pinterest boards.  It’s called Tailwind, and you can read all about it and try it out from this article:

How to Auto Post on Pinterest

In this article, you will learn all about the Tailwind program, how to auto-post your articles on all your Pinterest boards over time to avoid spamming the platform, how to join "Tribes" where you share their posts and they share yours and other strategies to optimize your social media outreach on the Pinterest platform!

Posting to Linkedin and Facebook Groups

I always post each article I write on my Linkedin page as well as my Facebook Business page and other various affiliate marketing and online marketing groups I belong to on Facebook.

It’s pretty simple.  I learned early on in my Wealthy Affiliate training to add a plugin called Ultimate Social Share Plugin.  I’m actually thinking of getting the Premium version, but I haven’t yet.  Right now I’m using the free version, but I like it because I can easily share my content to my Facebook groups and my Linkedin account.  I have a different strategy for sharing to Twitter.

So, to share your post on your Linkedin and Facebook, you just click on the icon:

When you click to share, it opens up to your page and gives you the opportunity to post it to your page.  Here’s what it looks like on Linkedin.  It opens up and gives you the opportunity to share it in a post:

When you click on the Share in a post, it opens up and gives you the opportunity to write something in your post about the article.  You can also click on any of the suggested hashtags on the bottom (or add your own hashtags as well if you like).  It’s pretty awesome!  The you just click post and your post appears on your Linkedin feed!

There’s a link shortner called bit.ly where you can not only shorten your links, but the program tracks the clicks on them as well, which is pretty cool.  Go ahead and sign up for an account, and you can begin putting your links into the shortener.

The reason you want to shorten your links is that Twitter only allows a certain amount of characters, so you want to shorten the link to allow you more space to tweet your message.  The other great thing with bit.ly is that you can customize your shortlink as well.  Take a look:

  1. I am a newbie and your post is spot on. I’ve found that creating quality content is the most important skill because it is the best way to capture traffic. It is definitely hard work it is fun at the same time if you choose the right niche. It has to be something you enjoy learning and reporting. I am a part of WA and would recommend it to all affiliate marketers.

    1. You made a wise choice is joining Wealthy Affiliate, for sure.  You will learn so much, and you’ll learn from other marketers like me, too.  I learn every day on the platform, either through my training, from Kyle or from other fellow marketers.  I also love reviewing other websites because it shows me what other people are doing, what works and what I like.  ~ Babs

  2. I always enjoy reading your blog posts and I have heard of auto posting your blog posts to your social media sites but I did not know how exactly to go about doing it or which program to use. I usually try different SEO strategies before posting to social media but I really should. Which social media platform gets you the most results?

    1. I have had good luck with Linkedin and Facebook.  I just started Instagram, but I’m thinking that one is going to be fruitful as well.  Twitter gets me views but not as many visits.  ~ Babs

  3. Traffic is definitely the backbone of any business whether it’s online or in the real world, without it your business will not survive and sink. Social media is a great way to get free traffic, but I still struggle with it because my posting is very inconsistent. I’m also only sharing posts on Facebook right now, I haven’t gotten into Instagram or Pinterest. I didn’t know you could join “tribes” on Pinterest, definitely something I could try. I didn’t even know you could use Instagram for affiliate marketing, I thought it was just young girls to post selfies. Thanks for the tips.

    1. Instagram has become one of the main ones!  I’m glad you read this!  Let me know if you need any help with any of it.  ~ Babs

  4. “We will discuss an important aspect of online marketing, and that is how to get more traffic!”

You have piqued my interest with this line alone… I sometimes have some issues bringing traffic to my website and not having eyes on my post is counterproductive. This post is full of a lot of important and vital information. This is definitely the post I needed to read and there are plenty of SEO methods that I am not implementing.

Have any tips on Instagram? I have been trying to get followers and it keeps fluctuating.

  5. Hi Bobs; your post is fantastic! I became so carried away until I am not sure I am doing the article enough justice. I realised that Social media plays an integral roll in the Site content writers traffic to their web posts.

I also found out that we sometimes left out the main ingredients that will monetise our business. I am thankful for your help. And I am looking forward to reading more of your posts.

  6. Hi Babs,

Great article with a lot of information about getting more traffic! I agreed that posting articles in social media platform will generate more traffic but it’s time-consuming unless using automatic software like Tailwind, Buffer, etc. Further, l experienced the bouncing rate is high and will hurt our site in the long run.

Site commenting is my favorite method to drive traffic and Google loves engagement in our site. This further increase our site ranking in Search Engines.

Is there any social media platforms, besides Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Pinterest and Twitter you can recommend?

    Thank you.

    1. Yes, Youtube is where you want to market as well.  Create videos and place them on Youtube and link to your site and imbed the videos in your posts.  ~ Babs
