This will be a full instructional article on the Wealthy Affiliate Program that will provide all the Wealthy Affiliate How To’s. This will give the entire sign-on process, and the making of your affiliate website to start generating income.
Throughout this article, I will be offering up other articles for you to reference to get a complete understanding of the process. You will have a full understanding of the Wealthy Affiliate How To’s when you are done reading this article and the accompanying links.
I will go through the process with you step-by-step, and I will link to other articles where I feel you might need more detail on a particular subject.
The Wealthy Affiliate program is a 100% free program to join. The Wealthy Affiliate company does offer a Premium membership as well, but this article will focus on the Starter Membership level which costs nothing to join or maintain. No credit card information of any kind is required to sign up, and you can keep your free membership and two free websites as long as you like.
Step 1 – Sign up for Wealthy Affiliate
You will click this link when you are ready to sign up. It should open in a new window. This will make it easy to go between windows to read these instructions and follow along in real time at the Wealthy Affiliate site. So once ytou click the link above, you will be taken to a page that looks like this.
Go ahead and fill in your email address and click on the “Get Started” tab. Here is what the page will look like. You want to fill in your name, Username, email address, and a password. I have a screen capture of my son Ian’s sign-on process for illustration purposes.
What I truly love about the Wealthy Affiliate program is the ease with which you can navigate through the system and the training program. There’s no guesswork, no trying to find where you left off. Whoever designed the program for the site is a genius and realizes that people with little or no online experience need that ease of navigation.
So when you sign up, you are immediately greeted and instructed as follows:
Quick look at success
This is the process in a nutshell. This explains the process you will follow to earn a substantial income online. I will be going through this process with you on a step-by-step basis leaving no stone un-turned so you have a full understanding of the Wealthy Affiliate How To’s. By the end, you will be a pro!
Here is the overview of the process:
Watch the walk-through video
The first video is the walk-through video. It will show you all around the Wealthy Affiliate platform. Honestly, it is one of the easiest platforms I’ve ever seen to navigate. Everything is completely spelled out for you, and this video will show you where everything is and how it works.
I suggest you follow each video in order, and you can always go back and re-watch any video at any time. The training you complete is always right there for you to watch at any time.
Set up your account
This is an important step, because the community of Wealthy Affiliate is an integral part of your success in affiliate marketing. The community provides you with valuable feedback on your websites, traffic to your sites until your generic traffic picks up, and all-important website comments. Here is an article on the importance of traffic and comments for your success:
Therefore, set up your profile, with a nice profile picture and a write-up about yourself and anything else you want to share. Everyone inside the Wealthy Affiliate platform will be able to see your profile.
Choose your niche (your subject matter)
This is one of the most important steps you will make is choosing your niche. You get two free websites with the free Wealthy Affiliate membership, but you are going to set up one website at a time. Your niche is the subject of your site, and here is a description of the importance of your niche.
Here is an article giving you more detail about the importance of choosing your niche and how to go about it:
Creating your website
With the Wealthy Affiliate free membership, you get two free websites. Focus on building one first so you can devote the proper time to it. The platform provides full step-by-step training on every single step as shows below:
It’s super easy to navigate around Wealthy Affiliate. Everything is labeled for easy access. So you just click on the Websites tab as shown below, and then on the Site Builder.
You are then directed to set up your free website, or you can upgrade to Premium. My recommendation is that you maintain the free website through the training because you can always opt to upgrade if you are finding value and enjoying the process. (The one benefit of upgrading within the first 7 days is they give you the next month for $19.99 [the monthly premium membership rate is $49.99 normally]).
Choose your Website Theme
Your theme is the design of your website. You will have 12 different themes to choose from as a starter (free) member. This is not critical, because you can change your theme as often as you like, and if you do opt for a premium membership, you will have access to many more themes.
So try a few out and see how you like them. When you change themes, your information is transferred, so you don’t have to start over.
Benefits of the Wealthy Affiliate and Site Rubix Platform
When building your website, you want the security and the support for your business. If you are planning to place affiliate links on your site to earn income, you will need this as part of your business. That is one of the main benefits of the Wealthy Affiliate platform. Take a look:
Building your website
In this step you will decide if you want to do the free site rubix website or a .com website. Here again, I do recommend you use the free site to start because you can always upgrade to a .com website and it will transfer all of the content right over with no worries.
I do want to stress that once you have decided that this business is for you, you will need to get a .com website, but I do recommend you wait until you have learned about keyword optimization before you choose the name of your website.
You just click on the free site:
Then you will choose your free site rubix domain name. Again, you can change this in the future to your .com, so don’t stress this part! You will want to choose a domain name for your final .com that is keyword optimized, meaning it has lots of searches and low competition.
Here is an illustration of how Ian chose his domain name, and the full explanation of using the Jaaxy platform for keywords is in this article:
Below you will see the name Ian chose was Start At Home Business Ideas which has an average of 152 monthly searches (Avg) and 0 competition (QSR)! Now that’s what I’m talking about!
Choose your theme
Next you choose your theme, and remember, you can always change the theme of your website as many times as you like, so try out a few and see how you like them. Once you get more versed in building websites, you will have a better handle on which themes work best for you, so don’t worry about that part of it.
Once you have your theme chosen, you just click on the “Click Here to Build” button and you will receive this message while your website is being put together.
Now it will tell you your website is installed and ready to go, and so you click on the login button to be taken to the site to start adding content.
When it prompts you, you will want to install the classic editor. At this point, you will want to go with what everyone else has been using so if you need help from other members or have questions, they will all know because they will have been using the same thing.
Once you are up and going, you can always try the Gutenberg editor, but with it still being in the testing phase, it’s better if you go with the tried and true classic editor for now.
Once you choose the editor, you will be given these options to begin editing your site!
Editing your first post
On the left sidebar are all the options you have with regard to editing your website. I will be getting in much more detail about WordPress and the functionality of it, along with tips and tricks, as we go along. This is a general how-to article about getting started, so please be sure to subscribe to this website to receive alerts about any and all new posts.
On the left side of your WordPress back office will be “Posts” which is where all the posts are stored. So go ahead and click on that and then you will see the standard post that comes with every WordPress site. The title is “Hello World,” so go ahead and click on the title to open the post.
When you open it up, it will look like this. (Remember, the Wealthy Affiliate training is going to go into great detail on each and every step necessary to set up your website with videos and written instructions. It’s super easy to follow, so no worries.)
For Illustration Purposes
Personally, I never create my posts in the WordPress platform. Wealthy Affiliate has a post or page creation area that has an editor that checks for grammar, spelling, punctuation and sentence structure. I prefer to use the blog editor to write my posts, and then I transfer the post to the WordPress platform to add pictures and my affiliate links once I have had the system do the checks. (Google and the search engines are very particular about articles that don’t have good grammar, etc., so I double check it a couple of times before I transfer it.)
For illustration purposes, however, I am going to show you the edit feature and what it looks like in the website just so you can see it.
So here we edited the post (remember, above, it was titled Hello World, so we changed it to Start at Home Business ideas – Welcome!):
To make words bold you simply highlight them and click on the B above (the i is for italics and the U is for underline). Here I’ve highlighted the words up to date and successful and bolded them:
Adding Pictures to your post
Simply place the cursor where you want the picture to appear and click on the Insert Media button at the top:
Click on “Select Files” to open your computer and then browse your computer for the picture you want to upload.
In this example, I chose the picture of Ian’s signature to insert into the post. So I double click on the picture and it pops into the media library.
Once the picture is uploaded, you simply click on the button that says “Insert Media,” and the picture will be inserted into the post.
You can see the draft of the post here with the picture of Ian’s signature now inserted where I had my cursor. It’s that simple. You can center the picture, put it to the left or right of the text as well.
To save any changes you make to your WordPress post, you must always click on the “Update” tab on the right sidebar:
Now to view your post as it will appear to the public, you simply go to the top and click on the “View Post“ tab as follows:
What the post will look like
Here is the post on the actual website:
As always, I welcome any and all comments and questions regarding this article or any other article on this website. For more details on setting up your website and writing content, please review the menus above for other articles.
