If you are marketing online, then you have to pay attention! What is Quora about? You will want to know!!

I just learned about Quora recently in my Wealthy Affiliate University live training with Jay. Let me tell you something, Jay is a genius, and those live trainings are so enlightening. I learn something new from Jay every single week.

Last week, Jay’s Wealthy Affiliate live training was on the Quora platform and why we marketers should be using it in our business! Here’s a screenshot of Jay putting on the live training:

What exactly is Quora?

Quora is a question and answer forum.  It’s unique in that you can give you answers in the form of a video which is a really great feature.  You can set up a profile, too, with links, which makes it perfect for business people!

Here’s my profile:

How does answering questions help my business?

If you’ve been reading my website articles, you know that I am always stressing the fact that you need to become an authority in your niche.  The terms in social media is “influencer.”  This is important to your success.

Why is it important for you to be an authority?  It’s because people buy products and services from people that they trust.  Answering questions and helping people will make you that authority.

I love this quote by Zig Ziglar!  It sums up my own personal philosophy!  Let me share it with you:

You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want.

What questions should you answer?

You want to answer questions that are related to your niche.  My niche is helping people to make money online, right?  Therefore, I would search for questions relating to that.  In this example, I searched “how do I make money online.”  Look at all these questions:

Look at all these questions people are asking about making money online!  These are real people who want information on your niche!

This is just a great way to help people and encourage them to come to your for answers!

Typed or Video Answers

What makes Quora so unique in the world of online forums is that you have the ability to leave your responses in the form of a video.  The videos do not have to be uploaded to YouTube, you can take them directly from your computer or phone, which makes it super easy to answer questions.

Here is an example of a written response and a video response:

How many views do these responses get?

I am all about efficiency.  It’s fun to try new things, but if they are not fruitful, giving desired results, I don’t bother with them.  I am working this business to earn income for my family, and I rely on that income because I do this business full-time, so it’s important that I find strategies that actually work.

I’ve been pretty impressed with the response to this marketing strategy.

Let’s take a look at a video I posted less than one hour ago, and let’s see how many views it has received:

Here is a video I posted only two days ago, and already it has 228 views!  I find this pretty impressive, I have to say!

People will start asking for your responses

Today, when I checked my Quora account, I found that I had pending questions people had asked me to respond to.  How awesome is that?  That means that they found me to be an authority they wanted information from.  That’s great!

  1. Quora is an excellent means to get some free traffic and eyes on you, your brand, and it can help build authority and even provide other benefits like sales. I have used it for some time with success, and it is not that hard to set up either. Like you, I highly recommend it for online marketers.

I get replies and more questions in my inbox from Quora often in my inbox and I even use it myself to get answers to questions I may have. It is helpful, as there are some people that know what they are talking about that can get you pointed in the right direction.

Of course, as an online marketer, it does pay to have some kind of anchor website to base your online presence from, such as a blog or perhaps an e-commerce site or a service website. This way, you have a link to send people to when they want to know more about you.

The video answers are a new concept for me. I had not thought of this but it makes perfect sense and I can see how this is getting even more link juice for you. I saw that you had quite a few views in a very short time with the second video you added here. How long did it take you to record, edit, and post this, and did you also add the video to your website and to YouTube?

    1. No, I did not host it on Youtube.  I recorded it on my phone and then sent it to my computer, filed it and then uploaded it.  I would say the whole process took about 10-15 minutes total for everything, reading the question, providing the answer, sending the video and uploading the response.  ~ Babs

  2. I never really thought about quora as a marketing tool. I only use it when it comes up in the search results.
Maybe it is time to re-think my approach and utilise other channels, like quora, as well.
Especially the video response option sounds very promising. You can say a lot more in a one minute video than in a text it took you 15 minutes to type.
Will definitely have look at quora.
    Can anybody open an account?

  3. Honestly, I always thought that Quora is great for assignments and projects. But now that you have introduced Quora in a different way, like helping you pave your way in online marketing is just amazing. I understand that Affiliate Marketing can be hard but I am encouraged with the tips you shared.

You cannot just rely on one or two platforms, you can actually be resourceful and find a way on how other platforms can work out for online marketing. Knowledge is power and true to that, you can feed people with knowledge by answering their inquiries. By the way, how long is your video response to their questions?

Thank you for sharing this to us. I believe when you said that you have to become an authority in your niche. That way people will build a foundation of trust in you. You’re an expert!

    1. So each video response is an answer to just one question.  I post the response under the question as the “Answer.”  It’s super easy to do.  I simply file the video on my computer and upload it.  You don’t have to put it on Youtube or anything like that.  ~ Babs

  4. This article has been so helpful!  I have wondered what Quora could do to help my website and blogs and your examples are concise and straight to the point.  You definitely are very professional, yet seem straight forward and that is important in someone I would choose as a mentor.  Your video examples look nice and short and to the point, and look like they might not be so bad to do.  Qoura is a Forum that I will definitely be joining!

    1. Yes, Robert, join the fun!  I feel like in this day and age, people don’t have the attention span for long videos.  I can’t really get into a huge explanation, my website does a better job of explaining things, so I give them a brief recap and then direct them to my site.  ~ Babs

  5. I love using Quora. Not only for getting answers to my questions but also because I love reading other people’s answers. I’ve read some amazing stories there. I’m slowly getting addicted to Quora… 😛

And I was so amazed when I saw that I had pending questions, too. And talk about the views! Some of my answers have hundreds of views and I only started some months ago.

    1. Right?  It’s amazing how many views your posts and videos get in a short time!  Glad you are enjoying the platform, Jenny!  ~ Babs

  6. I’ve been posting responses on Quora since last year. Took me a while to recognize the potential contained therein. What I like most is that you’re communicating with the very people who are interested in your exact niche by setting up filters to only receive questions pertaining to your interests. You can also include links in your responses. A week ago I took out an ad on Quora and though I got clicks, no conversions. Not sure if I’ll go that route again.

    1. I didn’t realize you could advertise on Quora.  I will have to look into it.  So far, I’m just doing the Questions and Answers on the platform.  Thanks for the heads up.  ~ Babs

  7. This topic was informative.  Off and on I’ve seen the name of the forum around but knew nothing about it.  Now, I am better prepared to look at it, or even put it to use.  At the moment I can’t seem to upload anything to Youtube and haven’t a clue why.  I have no strikes against me or anything like that, the videos simply don’t upload.  So, Quora may be something to check out further as I expand my persona online.  At least you’ve convinced me of that.

    1. Try using a different gmail account and see if it’s maybe something to do with your account?  Do you have a lot of content already on there.  ~ Babs

  8. I’ve been on Quora for years but I never had used it extensively as others like it became their biggest traffic source. That’s because I rely on Google’s organic traffic and Pinterest for my traffic.

Setting that aside, what you did is astounding. I love Quora and I love reading your content reviewing it. It’s shedding some light on some areas I need to work on as someone with an account on that platform. 🙂

Thank you so much for this wonderful post. Kudos. 🙂

    1. You are very welcome, Mecyll!  You’ve viewed many of my posts, and I appreciate you taking time out of your day to read my posts and then comment!  You’re amazing!  ~ Babs
